About the movement

I stopped waiting for this industry to protect you.

What Protect The Seller is, why it exists, and who is behind it.

The question nobody could answer.

For years I served on my local association's board. I sat with the top agents in the country. I went all the way to the top of this industry and asked one simple question: who is protecting the seller? Nobody had an answer.

Real estate has a gap at its center. Anyone can get a license in a few weeks and start selling the most valuable asset a family owns. There is no test for honesty, no standard for putting the client first, and until now, no simple way for a seller to tell a great real estate agent from one who is just winging it. The person selling their home, often at one of the hardest moments of their life, has been left to look out for themselves.

I have watched too many people get hurt.

I have had sellers and buyers cry to me over things that never had to happen, if they had only known our industry better, if they had only known the right questions to ask and how to navigate it. That stays with you. And I know, all the way down, that when you have one honest agent in your corner, everything about selling your home changes. That is not a slogan to me. It is my mission in life.

So I stopped waiting, and I built Protect The Seller. It puts the seller first, because the seller is who the whole system forgot.

For sellers: what you were never given.

Protect The Seller hands you what you were never handed. Honest education about how a home sale actually works, so the process stops being something other people control. The exact questions to ask before you sign with an agent or spend a dollar getting ready. A clear picture of what a great agent should be doing for you, so you can spot one who isn't. And the confidence to walk into the biggest sale of your life prepared, instead of hoping you picked the right person. You come out knowing what good looks like, and expecting it. That expectation is the whole engine: every seller who walks in prepared and asks one question, "Are you in the Protect The Seller Circle?", moves the industry an inch. Enough of us, and it moves for good.

For agents: a way to prove it.

For the agents who already put sellers first, Protect The Seller offers proof. They have never had a clean way to show it. The Protect The Seller Circle is that way: free, public, and human-reviewed. To join, an agent signs a commitment, in their own words, to what should never have been optional: tell the truth even when it is hard to hear, put the seller's profit ahead of their own paycheck, name every fee and conflict before being asked, and never win a listing by quoting a price they know is too high. A real person reviews it, agents reaffirm it every year, and it can be revoked. It is not a logo an agent can buy; it is a promise someone is accountable to.

There is a bigger reason the good agents are joining, too, and it is the future of the profession itself. Our industry is fighting for its life. Portals, iBuyers, discounters, and Wall Street buyers all circle the same money and swing the same weapon, the idea that agents are bad, using the industry's own lack of trust to pry agents out of the deal. The only real defense is to earn that trust back out loud, not by paying lobbyists but by putting our names on a public standard of honesty. An industry that earns trust keeps its business.

Not every agent is a vulture.

I want to be clear about this. The goal was never to say every real estate agent is out to get you. It is the opposite. It is to make room for the agent who helped someone through one of the most difficult, stressful times of their life, and to give that agent a way to stand up and be recognized for it.

This is a seller-led movement. The more sellers who expect honesty, the less room there is for anyone who won't give it. If you're selling, I've got you. And if you're one of the good agents, I've been looking for you.
